General

Q: What is The Free State Project (FSP)?

A: The Free State Project is an effort to recruit 20,000 liberty-loving people to move to New Hampshire and participate socially and politically to effect smaller government and more individual freedom for all of the state's residents.

Q: Why should I attend PorcFest?

A: There are many reasons, but if you are considering signing up to be part of the FSP, want to socialize with fellow pro-liberty activists, or want to experience the Live Free or Die state, PorcFest is definitely for you. This is a wonderful opportunity to meet likeminded people, First 1,000 movers and signers, and others. Many people who have already moved to New Hampshire cite PorcFest as one of the primary reasons they decided to make the move.

Q: What if I'm not a participant of the Free State Project?

A: PorcFest is for everybody who loves liberty! Even if you're just curious about the FSP, this is an ideal opportunity to meet the activists who've already signed up and see New Hampshire first-hand.
 

Q: What if I want to start camping before the offical weekend (June 24-26, 2011)?

A: Come for as long as you like!  The "big" days are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, so be sure to attend those. Many people are planning to start camping earlier, anytime from the preceding Sunday. If you do decide to come earlier, something is sure to be going on. Consult the schedule and calendar from time to time to see what is being planned.

Q: What if I'm short on funds or don't have transportation?

A: Visit the Porcs Helping Porcs section of the website to find offers of car-pooling, shared housing, etc.

Q: Who attends PorcFest?

A: PorcFest brings together a fun, diverse group of liberty-loving folks from all corners of the world. Whether you're a family or coming by yourself, young or old, rich or poor, anarchist or minarchist, you'll feel right at home. Something for everyone!

Q: What happens at PorcFest?

A: Tours of New Hampshire, concerts, campfires and BBQs, discussion groups, speakers, outdoor activities, hikes, drives, games, dancing, and more. Check out the schedule for more details.

Camping

Q: What if I don't like to camp?

A: Roger's has a motel as well as various mobile homes and cabins  onsite for rent. There are also other accommodations and hotels in the area. Try to make your reservation soon. Visit the PorcFest lodging page for details.

Q: How do I ensure I'm camping near other PorcFest guests?

A: When you call Rogers to reserve your site, tell them you are with PorcFest for your 10% discount. We'll fill the campground this year, so don't worry about your neighbors! (Only available until May 1, 2011, so register early! Please be sure to leave a message and someone from Roger's will call you back to make the necessary arrangements.)

Q: What camping supplies does PorcFest provide?

A: PorcFest does not provide any camping supplies. There is a store at Roger's that sells basics like sunscreen, bug spray, and beer.

Q: What camping supplies should I bring?

A: At the minimum, you should have a tent, sleeping bag, rain gear, and a flashlight. Mosquito repellant is a good idea too. Oh, and sunscreen. This is not a comprehensive list though.

Q: What if I don't have or forget some supplies?

A: There is a convenience store at Roger's and several stores in the Lancaster area, including a Shaw's.

Q: About how many non-PorcFest campers will there be?

A: The vast majority of campers will be with PorcFest, however, Roger's does have seasonal customers who will be onsite. Porcs treat everyone with respect and courtesy at all times. 

Q: Are pets allowed?

A: Yes, in most areas. Please check with Roger's.

Registration

Q: Why should I register?

A: First off, because you will need a ticket to attend PorcFest. Second, some events will fill up/sell out quickly. To provide you with the best planning and information, and to adequately arrange for space, equipment, buses, performers, etc., we need to have an accurate estimate of attendance.

Q: What does it cost to attend PorcFest?

A: PorcFest is very affordable. Various aspects of the festival have specific fees associated with them, e.g. bus tours, t-shirts. Tickets to the festival are $25 for adults (18 and over) and free for those under 18. After April 1st, the price will go up to $30, and same day registration at the festival will be $35, so register soon. There are fees to camp at Roger's (and a small day fee for day visitors), but sharing campsites can help reduce this expense. To post about sharing, post in the PorcFest Lodging Forum.

Q: By when must I register?

A: Register as soon as possible. This helps us plan the best events possible for you. You can register the day of the festival, however, don't be surprised if tickets are more expensive and items or activities you would like to attend are sold out.

Q: Who should I contact with questions or problems?

Q: What must I bring to check-in at PorcFest?

A: After you register, you will receive a receipt. We ask that you bring this with you to the Registration table when you sign in.

Q: Can I change or delete my registration at a later time?

A: Please consult the Roger's website regarding their cancellation policy. Cancellations to PorcFest will be accepted until 30 days prior to the event. No cancellations after 30 days.

Q: How private is my registration information?

A: We do not share your information with anyone outside of the Free State Project organization. If you have a concern about this, please email porcfest@freestateproject.org.

Q: Do you accept Liberty Dollars? Silver?

A: Yes. Email RealValue@PorcFest.com to arrange for this.

Q: Where should checks be made out to and mailed?

A: Checks should be clearly marked for PorcFest 2011, be made out to "Free State Project" and mailed to:

Food

Q: Where should we go to purchase food?

A: Agora Valley! Also, Roger's has a small convenience store that sells basics and snacks. A restaurant onsite serves breakfast Fri, Sat, Sun. Communal meals are being planned. Also, bring your own snacks and food. Each campsite has a fire-pit. Lancaster isa short drive away where fast food, a grocery store, and restaurants are available. And don't miss the one-pot cook-off on Saturday night. Hosted by the Liberty Ladies, this popular event is a great way to meet people.
