Lisa Jane Lipkin

Tuesday June 18, 7:00PM

Artful, soulful, and heartful, Lisa Jane Lipkin delivers a unique blend of jazz-inflected, folk-edged, soul-tinged originals that sing of a universal journey. Once dubbed a cross between Diana Ross and Joni Mitchell, Lipkin wraps her silvery voice around songs of love, loss, mistakes & triumphs, offering an uplifting refrain to life’s highs & lows.

A spirited performer, Lipkin has been on numerous stages up and down the East Coast and beyond and has played on bills with Dar Williams, Vance Gilbert, Steve Forbert, Sloan Wainright & many more. Her songs have appeared on compilation recordings, in film & have won awards in numerous contests. In addition, Lipkin has recorded, produced and arranged for other artists including the award-winning Jay Hitt, Sandi Kimmel & children’s composer, Christine Pepe.

Hailing from New Jersey, landing in New Hampshire, after a few decades in New York, Lipkin says she’s always venturing toward the “new” and quotes a line from her song while waxing philosophic. “Life can play hardball, especially at times like these, but despite how it might appear, we’re working on a New Togetherhood” and collectively headed somewhere good!

Craig Thomas and Bluetopia

Friday June 22, 7:00PM

Craig Thomas is an accomplished singer/saxman steeped in blues, rhythm & blues, boogie woogie, and with rock/jazz influences. He’s performed and recorded nationally with The R&B Bombers, Aretha
Franklin, Michael McDonald, Loggins & Messina, Johnny Mathis, Les McCann, Jermaine Jackson, Clarence Clemmons (E Street Band), the Stylistics, Tom Jones, and movie soundtracks including “DeathWarrant” with Jean-Claude van Damme. Craig centers on the New England scene now with his band Bluetopia based out of New Hampshire. The band’s voicings are at one moment gravelly and powerfully rough, and then mellow the next, but always with an underlying blues based feeling.

At this year’s Porcupine Freedom Festival, Craig will be showcasing his original tunes with liberty themes, “Your Life, Your Way” and “Mr GMan” as well as some other liberty themed songs such as the Beatles George Harrison’s “Taxman” and Jim Messina’s “Same Old Wine.” Craig’s sax and vocals are indeed some of the sexiest in the blues/boogie space, bred from decades of playing with a who’s who of blues and R&B on both east and west coasts.
